Arriving at Cairnryan

Disembarkation and the A77 Problem

Vehicles disembark in lane order. The process is quick. The problem starts immediately after.

The A77 north to Glasgow is largely single carriageway. After a busy ferry unloads, all traffic funnels onto this road. Expect slow going behind lorries with limited overtaking opportunities. Being first off the ferry makes a real difference.

Foot passengers: Options are limited. Taxis are available but should be pre-booked. Bus services to Stranraer run but are infrequent. This is not an easy port for foot passengers.
