About FerryAtlas

FerryAtlas is the ferry travel guide I wished existed when I started crossing seas. Every booking aggregator tells you the price and the time. None of them tell you what the ferry is actually like - whether the cabin is comfortable, whether the food is decent, which operator to choose, or how to get from port to city centre.

I am Patrick Hughes, an Irish travel writer based in Northern Ireland. I have been writing about transport and travel since 2006 across six specialist sites. I book my own tickets, pay my own fares, and write from the passenger deck. Where I have not sailed a route, I say so.

What This Site Covers

FerryAtlas covers passenger ferry routes worldwide. Route guides compare operators, crossing times, cabin options, and prices. Ferry reviews are first-person accounts with photos and video. Port guides cover logistics - how to get there, what facilities exist, and where to stay if you need to be near the terminal.

What This Site Does Not Cover

Cruise ships are covered on CruiseDirector. Trains are covered on WayRail. Flights and airports are covered on Planet Patrick.
